3 Palestinians were shot dead during Israeli raids in the West Bank

Israeli soldiers shot and killed Samir Aslan, 41, in the early hours of Thursday morning during a raid on the Qalandia refugee camp, north of Jerusalem, according to what his wife said in a videotape published by the "Qalandia" Information Center.

The wife, whose name the center did not reveal, added: "They came to arrest my son, kidnapped him from the house, and started beating and kicking him with their weapons. His father ran after him trying to save him, but they opened fire with their guns and killed him in one second. They did not let the ambulance come to save his life. They left him for an hour to bleed." in the street".

The Palestinian Health Ministry said Aslan was shot in the chest.

An Israeli army statement said that Israeli forces raided the Qalandiya camp, among other locations, arrested 6 suspects and confiscated "an M1 rifle, weapon parts, ammunition and money used in terrorist activity."

The statement added: "During the operation, the suspects threw stones and blocks from the roofs, targeting the soldiers working below, which endangered their lives, and the soldiers responded with riot dispersal means and live ammunition."

The Palestinian Ministry of Health stated that the second man who was killed on Thursday was Habib Muhammad Kamil, 25, from the town of Qabatiya, near Jenin, in the northern West Bank. The official Palestinian News Agency, Wafa, reported that he was shot in the head and later died of his wounds in a hospital in Jenin.

According to a statement by the Israeli army, Kamil was killed during a joint raid by the Israeli army, the Israeli security agency and the Israeli border police, targeting another man, Muhammad Alawneh, who was arrested.

The statement added: "During the operation in the town of Qabatiya, the wanted suspect and another suspect fled the scene, and the forces opened fire on them." The statement said, "The wanted suspect was arrested, and the other suspect was injured." The statement did not mention the name of the man who was killed .

Later, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced the death of Abd al-Hadi Fakhri Nazzal, 19, from the town of Qabatiya, as a result of being shot in the neck and chest by live bullets during a raid by Israeli forces on the town.

Among the nine Palestinian deaths in the West Bank this year were three teenagers, ages 14, 16 and 17, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

The death toll also includes a Palestinian man who stabbed an Israeli civilian in the West Bank on Wednesday, according to the Israeli military.

Official statistics from both sides showed that last year was the bloodiest for Israelis and West Bank Palestinians alike in nearly two decades.

A total of 31 Israelis and foreigners were killed in Palestinian attacks in 2022, according to statistics from the Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet), and the number includes security forces and civilians.

Figures from the Palestinian Ministry of Health show that in the same year, 170 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank. Israel says most of the dead were terror suspects or violent clashes with Israeli forces. According to the Israeli human rights group B'Tselem, many of those killed were either unarmed or posed no imminent danger when they were killed.
