Sindh Government's letter to Provincial Election Commissioner to postpone tomorrow's Local Government Election
KARACHI: The Sindh government has written a letter to the provincial election commissioner to postpone the local body elections to be held tomorrow.
In a letter written by the Sindh government to the Provincial Election Commissioner, it has requested to postpone the local body elections scheduled for January 15 in Karachi and Hyderabad.
The Sindh government's letter has said that there are security problems and any untoward incident can happen, so the municipal elections should be postponed until fool-proof security arrangements are in place.
Earlier, the national security agencies have also expressed serious security concerns regarding the local elections in Sindh and have recommended the Election Commission to postpone the election phase of January 15.
According to sources, a meeting of sensitive institutions was held in Karachi on Friday evening, in which serious concerns were expressed about the local body elections in Sindh.
