The Election Commission has directed the Sindh government to ensure arrangements for local body elections
After the Election Commission's decision to hold local body elections in Karachi and Hyderabad on January 15, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Chief Secretary Dr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput.
Officers of top military and civil institutions, Secretary Election Commission, Provincial Election Commissioner, IG Sindh, Additional IG Karachi and other high officials participated in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Election Commission directed the Sindh government to make arrangements for the local elections and ensure the delivery of equipment to the polling stations from tomorrow.
Apart from this, the Sindh government was directed to install secret cameras at the most sensitive polling stations and IG Sindh to send police personnel from other districts to the polling stations.
In the meeting, the merger of MQM factions was also discussed. Police officials while giving a briefing said that MQM has threatened to stop the elections, MQM London faction is chalking walls on the walls. There is a fear that the law and order situation will deteriorate during the local elections, while banned organizations can also plan terrorism during the elections.
The Federal Secretary Election Commission said that what kind of guarantee should be accepted and postpone the election? If the election is postponed today, will the law and order situation improve after a month? Elections will be held on time, make arrangements.
After that, Chief Secretary Sindh Dr. Sohail Rajput said that we have completed the arrangements, despite the difficulties, we have made full preparations, there is coordination from all the institutions.
